2013 Junior Coaching and Competition programme

The programme for the year begins early February and runs each weekend on a Saturday from 1:30 -3:30 pm, weather permitting . Please ring the Clubhouse on 09 4362246 before 10:30 am for confirmation if the weather looks doubtful.

The coaching programme covers all the basic skills set out in the Level 1 Junior Plus programme of the NZ Golf Foundation. This includes all the basic skills as well as knowledge of the rules and course etiquette.
'The Pines' Club is an accredited member of the 'Junior Plus' programme.

Coaching will generally not take place during the winter months (July, August) when ground conditions are not suitable for constructive play. Coaching begins again in September.

Clubs, bags, trundlers and balls are all provided during coaching sessions, for those who do not have their own equipment.
Junior Coaches are all Club members who have received appropriate training from the NZ Golf Asociation and all have a very keen interest in seeing that all Juniors enjoy the experience and improve their game.

You do not have to be a Pines Club member to come along to coaching sessions. The Club is able to provide coaching and advice to Juniors with a wide range of skills and abilities, right from the absolute beginner through to single figure handicappers.
The Club has direct access to professional coaching for those Juniors whose skill level requires it.
Juniors move to the senior adult ranks after they turn nineteen.

Competitions
Juniors with handicaps can compete in the Club Junior Matchplay and Junior Stroke Play competitions. Theses will be held in the Spring when course conditions are more favourable. Details of the actual dates and times will be published in Pitchmark ( The Pines official publication) well in advance of the events.
Once a reasonable standard of play has been achieved and a sound knowledge of the rules and golf etiquette has been demonstrated, Juniors will be invited to participate in the Club Sunday programme alonside Senior players.
Juniors with handicaps will also be able to take part in regional Pennants competitions and both they and their parents will be advised of eligibility and of dates and times when they become available.
Please direct enquiries about Juniors to the Junior Convenor , Tony Hockings-
